TDAS PLUS VMS Control Panel

The TDAS PLUS Velocity Measurement System (VMS) is a completely stand-alone solution for accurately measuring the velocity of test vehicles, sleds or other test devices. The built-in microprocessor manages all functions including velocity calculation, self-test features and the PC interface for remote control. Each TDAS PLUS VMS contains redundant collimated laser through-beam optical sensors in a fixed dimensional structure. Accuracy is guaranteed by the inherent toughness of the trap structure in conjunction with DTS' unique adaptive signal processing circuits. Standard trap length is 48 inches, but can be manufactured to any customer specified length. Each TDAS PLUS VMS is fully self-contained with a built-in battery and robust electronics.

Features:

  • Collimated visible red lasers with over 10-meter range.
  • Dual traps for redundant velocity measurements.
  • Velocity displays directly in MPH, KPH or M/S.
  • Periodic calibration information is stored in the TDAS VMS EEPROM, which allows the trap to directly calculate NIST traceable velocity readings.
  • PC interface via RS-232 or RS-422 communication link allows the user to control all TDAS PLUS VMS functions remotely over a cable up to 1,000 feet long. This includes logging of velocity measurements.
  • Self-test circuit blinks the lasers to simulate real-world use at a user specified velocity.
  • Buffered 0 to 5-volt pulse outputs for external time interval measurements if desired.
  • Comprehensive self-diagnostics and fault monitoring.
