Integration is the Key

The TDAS G5 DAS is the next generation in data acquisition systems offering true “plug-and-play” solutions. At only 25 x 54 x 85 mm in size, the TDAS G5 DAS is a 32-channel, stand-alone data acquisition system. It is the first data acquisition system designed to move seamlessly from dummy to dummy to vehicle to load cell barrier to sled. The small size and portability of the TDAS G5 DAS meets the increasing need for data acquisition systems that can be moved from application to application—quickly and easily—while also maximizing the cost effectiveness of data acquisition resources.

DTS teamed with the world leader in crash test dummies, First Technology Safety Systems ( www.ftss.com ), to develop a truly next-generation test device—the iDummy TM . Using the TDAS G5 DAS, FTSS has designed a revolutionary in-dummy wiring solution and integrated system for a turn-key solution.

Today, DTS and FTSS have approximately 20 complete iDummy TM systems in the field including HIII 5TH and 50TH , THOR-FTTM , POLAR and WorldSID. Customers have conducted over 2,000 successful crash tests with the iDummy TM system solution.

DTS understands the crash test engineer's desire for systems that auto-configure themselves and work seamlessly with other hardware and software. With that in mind, DTS has worked hard to create a line of TDAS PLUS accessories that allow the user to connect TDAS G5 systems with facility control PLCs, high-speed cameras, TDAS PRO equipment, and even CrashLink® compatible hardware. TDAS G5 systems also support TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) sensor ID, allowing for complete plug-and-play auto-configuration.

But the integration does not stop with the hardware. Software tools are another key to making it all work together. DTS provides the following software control options:

  • TDAS Control Software
  • SureFireTM from Microsys [ www.micro-sys.com ]
  • CrashSoft® 3 from MESSRING [ www.messring.com ]
  • ASAM GDI Drivers
  • DTS can also provide its high level API (Application Programming Interface) and works with customers to allow their software to control TDAS products directly.
